Christian pop group Casting Crowns got their musical start in Daytona, Fla. The small student worship band was lead by singer, songwriter and youth pastor Mark Hall and gained members as it moved from Florida to McDonough, Ga. in 2001. There the group released two independent albums and was well-received by the Atlanta area. One of those albums found its way into the hands of Mark Miller, lead singer of Sawyer Brown, who signed the band to his label, Beach Street Records. Casting Crowns’ first big album was released in 2003, but the group hit their stride in 2005 with their album Lifesong, which became a Top Ten national hit.
