Randy Travis

Randy Travis’ future seemed uncertain after he dropped out of school in ninth grade. However, soon after winning a talent contest in Charlotte, the Marshville, N.C. native decided he would try his hand at country music. Travis signed on with tiny label Paula Records, produced a debut album and drove from radio station to radio station trying to promote his unique, old-school country sound. Despite being turned down by many record labels throughout his early years, Travis’ determination, talent and the 1985 single “On The Other Hand” landed him on the Billboard country singles chart at No. 67. With this, his career got the jump-start it needed, leading Travis to produce over 20 records to date and such popular singles as “Forever and Ever, Amen,” “Too Long Gone” and “Forever Together.”

Joe Nichols

Country singer Joe Nichols got his first record deal at the age of 19 after listening to his truck driver father sing and play bass at the local VFW. In 2002, Nichols, along with studio guitarist Brent Rowan, produced his first album, Man With a Memory. Nichols and his single, “The Impossible,” earned a total of three Grammy nominations. Nichols star continued to rise, producing two more albums and securing his place in the country music canon in 2005 with his popular single “Tequila Makes Her Clothes Fall Off.”
