How do I enter the competition?

How much does it cost to enter the competition?

There is no fee to enter the K-12 competition.

Can I submit an entry that was executed two years ago?

No. All work must have been made within the past year.

What grade should I submit my entry under?

The grade classification is for the year most recently completed.

Does my submission have to be made in school?

Entries will be accepted from students in technology and engineering classes in any Minnesota school. Minnesota CTE high school students in technology, engineering, trade and industry classes may enter. The only exception to this is photography (classes 8-13) where students do not need to be enrolled in a technology education class to enter. No post high school students are allowed in the competition.

How many exhibits can I enter in each class?

Entries are limited to one (1) item per student in each class.

What are the framing requirements?

No framed photos or artwork is accepted in the Technology and Engineering Exhibits competition. Projects in classes 8-13 must be mounted securely on a piece of suitable mat board no larger than 11” x 14”.

How do I change the name or description of my entry after I have submitted my registration?

Please email competition@mnstatefair.org with your entry number and the changes you would like made.

I am not able to drop off my entries during the specified delivery dates. Can I drop them off earlier?

Exhibitors unable to bring exhibits to the Education Building during specified delivery dates and times may bring them to the competition office in the Admin Too Building, 1312 Cosgrove Street, Monday-Friday between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., beginning Monday, July 15, through Tuesday, July 30. No weekend deliveries and absolutely no exhibits will be accepted before July 15 due to limited space to store exhibits.

When will results be available? 

Results will be posted on our website on the first day of the fair.
