Fair-Time Job Opportunities at the Minnesota State Fair

The Minnesota State Fair Employment Center assists applicants interested in working the 12 days of the fair as well as departments and vendors looking to hire employees.

Please note that this is a partial list of possible job openings. The Employment Center staff will discuss openings when applicants activate their registration. The type and number of jobs available changes frequently, therefore we do not post open fair-time positions on the website. Not all departments or vendors use the Employment Center for their hiring needs.

State Fair Department Jobs

This is a partial list of possible State Fair department job openings. Applicants hired for a department job are employed by the Minnesota State Fair.

Custodial/Sanitation
Job Duties:

  • Empty trash and recycling bins throughout the fairgrounds
  • Maintain cleanliness of restrooms, buildings and/or barns

Educational Exhibits
Job Duties:

  • Assist and interact with children, families and fair guests while monitoring educational exhibits throughout the fairgrounds

Office Assistance and Guest Services
Job Duties:

  • Assisting fair guests with questions
  • Answering phones
  • Data entry
  • Note: Most positions are in an office setting

Positions may include:

  • Information Booth staff
  • Lost & Found staff
  • Phone Operators
  • Guest Relations staff

Parking and Transportation
Job Duties:

  • Direct vehicles
  • Assist guests in various parking areas on the fairgrounds or at off-site Park & Ride locations
  • Note: Not all positions are on the fairgrounds

Special requirements: Some (not all) positions may include driving.

Public Safety
Job Duties:

  • Direct fair guests
  • Monitor vehicle access on the fairgrounds

Positions may include:

  • Building/Fairgrounds Security
  • Crowd Control

Ticket Sales
Job Duties:

  • Sell admission tickets at entrance gates OR
  • Sell ride tickets at Mighty Midway or Kidway OR
  • Sell parking admission tickets at the parking lots on the perimeter of the fairgrounds

Ticket Taker
Job Duties:

  • Greet fair guests
  • Take or scan tickets at the admission entrance gates, attractions or Grandstand concert venue

Vendor Jobs

This is a partial list of possible vendor job openings. Applicants hired for a vendor job are employed by the independent concessionaire or retailer. Please note, not all vendors use the Employment Center for their hiring needs.

Entertainment
Positions may include:

  • Costumed characters
  • Game attendants
  • Ride attendants

Food and Beverage
Job Duties:

  • Food preparation
  • Food sales

Positions may include:

  • Cooks
  • Servers
  • Dishwashers

Retail Sales
Positions may include:

  • Sales Representatives
  • Cashiers
